At first it read like a bad Tolkien wanna-be. I put it down, and decided – several weeks later, make that a couple months – that if I’d spent $25 on it I was going to get threw it.
I’m glad I did. It is not quite Tolkien-esque, though it bares some resemblance. Nevertheless, I must give him some credit. The book is compelling, and the fact that – like in Tolkien’s The Lord of the Ring – the story is only beginning with this volume will probably make the second volume a best-seller.
Lots of points from the fact that it was originally self-published. Confidence is key!
I must say, I am waiting for the next one to come out!
Hopefully, this won’t be another Harry Potter: I’d like to read the whole of the trilogy before I retire.
