Truly it is depressing and frustrating that there are thousands of listing, and yet not enough. Either they look for someone with specific skills (e.g. plumber, nurse) or they are looking for licenses and certificates and/or degrees (i.e. doctor, paralegal, CPA). Oh, and there’s also the quest for people with only a high school diploma. If there were more Bachelor’s required or preferred listing, maybe I’d have a job by now. It is truly disheartening.
I applied for 5 jobs the other day. I got an email saying that one had been held for further review. YAY! WOO HOO! The rates so far is 3/79, or 3.8%. WOO HOO.
I have been turned-down or back-burned or side-stepped so many times now, that I just feel like giving up. I, Christina, for the first time in as long as I can remember feels like giving up. Blasted! I don’t even know if it’s ever happened before. Damn!
Leaving to go gather myself together, recover, and move on.
Never give in–never, never, never, never,
in nothing great or small, large or petty,
never give in except to convictions of honour
and good sense. Never yield to force; never
yield to the apparently overwhelming might
of the enemy.
Sir Winston Churchill, Speech, 1941, Harrow School
I know you already know Churchill. As for my thoughts, treat life like a baseball game. A winner can strike out 2 out of 3 times and still be a world champion.
